About me
I’m Ana Paula Santos Silva – more commonly, Ana or Aninha. I consider myself as someone who is from everywhere. I’m Brazilian-American. I’ve lived in São Paulo, Montreal, Indiana, Georgia, Iowa, and had brief stints in Illinois and Florida. Every single place has taught me something new – including new languages (Portuguese, English, Spanish, and French), in addition to skills like photo and video editing, technical writing, basic coding, and more! As a person dedicated to a life of learning, I find joy in experiencing all that the world has to offer.

UGA played host to 25 of Africa’s bright, emerging Civic Engagement leaders for a six-week Leadership Institute, sponsored by the U.S. Department of State. The Mandela Washington Fellowship empowers young African leaders through academic coursework, leadership training, mentoring, networking, professional opportunities, and local community engagement. The Fellowship hosted by UGA was part of a group of 700 Mandela Washington Fellows hosted at 27 educational institutions. The Fellows were guests on African Perspectives and used the opportunity to share details about their civic engagement work in their home countries and how the Mandela Fellowship equipped them to make an even greater impact in their respective communities. In addition, the Fellows provided information on the socio-cultural and political developments in their respective countries to better inform the African Perspectives listeners.
